Laura Brennan Bissell didn't set out to become a winemaker, nor is she formally educated in the subject. If winemaking is a blend of art and science, however, then her 20's served as creative inspiration for the former. A native of Washington D.C.,she left for the Bay Area with the goal of becoming a tattoo artist and quickly found herself immersed in the music scene, collecting records and touring the US with punk and rock metal bands. She'd eventually move to Barcelona and become involved in performance poetry and experimental music prior to returning to the US in 2011 for her first internship at Unti Vineyards in Dry Creek Valley. A second internship at the renowned Matthiasson in Napa Valley followed,as did the creation of her INCONNU label in 2013.
While a long-term goal includes making wine in the unlikely Flathead Lake region of Montana, the immediate hope is that her wines remain affordable and akin to France's 'vin de soif' (wine of thirst).
Using ethically farmed grapes,Laura maintained a low intervention approach using native yeast and low sulfur for this pleasurable and light Chardonnay unlike those of infamous,over-oaked reputation from California.
